Hi Julia how are you doing? Tell us about your story.

I was actually a baby model. I was super shy. My parents brought me into modeling so I could open up and be less shy. Then there was a time when my aunt asked me if I wanted to come in and film a part for a TV show she was working on. She’s one of the writers of Criminal Minds and she wrote me into an episode. I did it and I loved it and I’ve been acting ever since and I hope to do it forever.

You love writing and you write your own scripts. How was it like? How did you get into it?

I write my own scripts. I direct and act in them most of the time. But to get into the writing, I usually think of Quentin Tarantino where I get inspired and think of the story. Then I write it down and turn it into a script.

You also make short films right? How was it?

It’s so much fun. I really like to put a whole story into these five minute videos.

Where do you put them out? Where can people see them?

I have a YouTube channel- Julia Butters. I made a couple of videos there- there’s a couple of horror films. I don’t know why but I guess that’s just my favorite genre.

Let’s talk about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. How did you end up getting the role of Trudi?

I’m on a TV show called American Housewife, a family sitcom on ABC. I learned that when Quentin Tarantino was actually writing the script for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, he had the TV ion in the background. He looked up and saw that my show was on. And he thought, maybe I can audition this girl. And he did.

And how was the audition process?

I went there and he came in and he said “Ana-Kat!,” which is my character name in the family sitcom.  You wouldn’t actually think of Tarantino watching a sitcom but he enjoyed it so that’s pretty cool.

How was it to be on set with such amazing actors?

I really liked the experience. It was so much fun. We got to meet Steven Spielberg. That was one of my favorite parts. They didn’t have phones on set so I got to really interact with people.

Have you seen any of the Spielberg movies and which ones do you love?

Oh, almost all of them. Like Jaws, Indiana Jones, all of the Indiana Jones movies, I love and those were like my top two. Also Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds etc.

Prior to going to the movie, are you aware of all the other actors that you will be working with?

Well at first I thought Leo was actually a musician. So that was fun. (laughs)

Do you have a specific favorite out of all the roles that you’ve played?

This one (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood). For the movie experience, it’s this one.

For the TV experience, it’s American Housewife.

What is your dream role?

A Spielberg film. (laughs)

If you’re not acting what else keeps you busy?

I write scripts. I write books sometimes, stories. I love doing creative things like crafts and school.

I’ve got a lot of things I can be busy with. I draw. I sing. I dance.

Probably one of the fairytale ones. Because they have happy endings.

Do you have a favorite Fairy Tale?

Beauty and the Beast. I’ve loved it since I was a kid.
