NAVIA ROBINSON [RAVEN'S HOME]
Navia currently stars as Nia in the Disney Channel series “Raven’s Home,” a spin-off of the iconic sitcom “That’s So Raven.” She is the smart and socially conscious daughter of Raven who is also a fraternal twin with her brother Booker.
She can also be seen in Netflix’s Emmy® award-winning series “Free Rein” where she plays the character of Rosie, someone with a persona totally opposite from hers.
In this exclusive interview, we chatted with the young star about her acting journey, her music, being part of Marvel, and just being a young actress in general.
How did acting start for you?
Acting started for me when I became aware of TV, Disney Channel and film and that it was a practical dream because I saw other kids my age on TV. I just had a very vibrant charismatic personality. I went to my Preschool and a woman who was essentially a part of the industry had told my mom that they should get me into acting classes so I could express that more and have a creative outlet for myself. And then once I started taking acting classes at a performing arts school, it just kind of took off. My passion expanded and my parents allowed me to begin auditioning from there.
Out of all of the characters that you’ve played so far, do you have a specific favorite?
NR: I think my favorite character to play so far would have to be Rosie from Free Rein, which is a Netflix series I did just because I feel like that character was most unlike who I am as a person. That made it fun and more challenging to kind of ground who she was because she was such a very pretentious and very L.A. “valley girl” and to make that into a believable character was very cool. I was also able to have more emotional moments when portraying her which I really enjoyed.
