Tell us your story.

Who is Sharone Hakman and how did your journey as a World-renowned chef happen?

I had a career in finance but my heart was always in the kitchen. I was given the opportunity to pursue my passions when I competed on season one of MasterChef. After that, I left my financial career and dove head first into the culinary world!

Tell us about your recollection of your earliest experiences as a chef. How was it and do you think it help shape you as the chef you are now?

Some of my earliest experiences with cooking were as a child. I would watch my grandmother in the kitchen day and night. She put so much love into everything she made. you could taste it. I would watch her and then experiment on my own. There were no rules; just me having fun in the kitchen.

Having fun in the kitchen is still the most important rule when I cook.

What inspired you to be a chef?

Food always brings people together and there was nothing I loved more than connecting family, friends, and food.

Tell us a little bit about Hak’s BBQ.

Hak’s is a gourmet line of BBQ sauces, cooking sauces and salad dressings. We use real, clean ingredients, creating dynamic global flavors that are bold and delicious.

Browsing the website alone makes me really hungry.

Which product is your favorite (if you have a favorite) from the bunch?

That’s like picking a favorite child! I can’t. But a crowd favorite is our original: Chipotle Bourbon BBQ sauce. Gotta try it and you’ll understand.

What’s that dish that you would usually cook for your family?

Breakfast is some of our favorite time spent together... so fun pancakes are always on the menu.

Have you seen the film “Like water for Chocolate”? The main character there relates her emotions to whatever she cooks and translates it to food. Anyway, we are curious, how do you make magic in the kitchen?

For me its ALL about flavor. Delicious food is magical.

What’s your go to ingredient in the kitchen?

Salt. Try cooking without it.

Your favorite food___________

Whiskey.. does that count?

If you can relate food to your favorite song, what song would it be?

California Love by Tupac and Dr. Dre is one of my favorite songs.... I come from the melting pot that is California and all of the cultural influences of my environment are always present in my food.

Tell us about your most memorable experience in working at Kocktails with Khloe.

Meeting Snoop Dogg... a childhood idol. He was kind, fun, smart and inspiring.
