Who is Madeline? What’s your story?
I am an R&B singer and moved to LA when I was 18 to pursue a career as a recording artist.
Where are you originally from?
How did music/singing/songwriting start for you?
I have always been singing ever since I could talk. I started recording at a family friend’s studio when I was 16, and that is when I knew that I positively wanted to be a recording artist.
What inspires you? Where do you draw your inspirations from?
Powerful women inspire me - women like Beyoncé and J-Lo, who are insanely driven and have successful and well-rounded careers. When it comes to song-writing, all the intricacies of love inspire me the most. I am an extremely emotional person. I live for passion.
Do you remember your first gig as a musician?
The first time I performed original music, it was at the Roxy in Hollywood when I was 18. I had just finished my first album, and it was very nerve racking. I’ve come a long way since then.
How would you describe your musical style?
I would say it’s mostly R&B with some pop flares. I like my music to have a bounce and a stimulating groove. People usually say my music sounds like it came straight out of the 90's.
Who / what are your musical influences?
Aaliyah is my biggest musical influence. I usually write songs like I am writing them for her. Amy Winehouse is my go-to soul influence. I listen to her when I need some mournful inspiration.
What’s the most rewarding part of being a singer for you?
Finishing a project and putting it out makes me feel so proud. It takes a lot of concentration and dedication to finish an entire album. Those are two characteristics I’ve forced myself to develop.
Who is your music icon?
Aaliyah for sure. I’ve learned so much from her calm and sensual swag. I’ve learned I don’t need to belt every song to convince my audience of my emotion.
What’s the proudest moment of your career so far?
Besides finishing my entire debut album, I also just learned an entire choreographed routine for my latest music video. I just knew the song needed some dancing to help sell it the way I pictured it. So, I hired a choreographer and learned a routine in two days. I’m proud of that because I wasn’t a dancer. I really pushed the limits of my artistry and proved to myself that I could be any kind of artist I wanted to now.
What keeps you busy aside from singing?
Traveling, reading, eating, and being creative with my friends.
Any musician/singer that you want to sing with (dead or alive) and why.
Besides my idols like Aaliyah and Amy Winehouse, I would die for the opportunity to work with Miguel. I honestly know our collaboration would be so sexy and unmatched. He is unbelievably talented and unique to me.
What do you think sets you apart from the artists around the world?
I have always been focused on making music that doesn’t just fit the current trend. I would hope people to listen to my music 20 years from now and it still have a relevant sound. I also think I give a lot of my personality to my audience. I am an all-around entertainer.

Any advice you can give to young and aspiring singers out there?
Keep your tunnel vision STRONG.
If you’re going to have your own book, what title would you give it?
“Don’t Let My Cute Face Fool You”
If you will be given the chance to help a specific cause/charity, what would it be?
I am very passionate about banning certain animals from being in captivity. Large animals who are used to traveling long distances, hunting, and living in certain environments have no business being held captive for our amusement. I would get rid of zoos all together if I could.
